Greyhound Bus & BTV

The Greyhound Bus Station has Relocated to the north end of the Burlington Int’l Airport(BTV) terminal.  (Excepting the northern most 1st floor entrance to the airport), simply take a left upon entering the airport and walk the length of the airport until you reach the last auto rental counter(formerly the Budget, which will be on your left).  The waiting area is across the aisle, and wi-fi is available.  Cheers, the Ed.

Depending on who is doing the telling, 20 to 40% of Burlington International Airports traffic is made up of Québécois.  Therefore, in large measure this post is meant for the benefit of our friends north of the border.

Greyhound Bus Station to the Burlington International Airport(BTV)

1) You are paying -which makes you the boss- so negotiate the rate before you choose who to ride with.  The drivers will tell you there is a pecking order, which is true enough, but you are not bound by it.  Do not be rushed into a decision, take your time(waiting comes with the territory and the Operators(s) can, and will, wait until you settle on a decision you are comfortable with).  An example: some drivers employ the tactic of closing a sale by grabbing your bag, loading it in their vehicle and leaving you to follow.  Your response should be to politely, but firmly, ask, “Are you going to return my bag or should I call 911(the police)?”.  Technically, that Operator is stealing your luggage.

2) The going rate to the Airport is $15 for one, and $1 per extra passenger.  Children 10 and under ride free with an adult.

Consumer Tip: While on the bus, ask around, chances are someone else is headed to the airport who you can split the fare with.

BTV to the Burlington Greyhound Bus Station

All of the above is equally true, except the rate will be different, and it’s not negotiable as the on-demand Airport Queue Taxi’s are metered and meter usage is mandatory due to City of Burlington Ordinance.  Depending on the traffic conditions the meter could range from $15 to $18 for one, plus $1 per extra passenger.  Again, children 10 and under, ride free with an adult.

Allow us to reiterate, by virtue of the fact that you are paying, you are the boss and you may choose any Airport Queue Taxi that suits your fancy.  You needn’t explain your choice to anyone, and that includes the Airport Ambassadors who sometimes act as taxi starters.

Consumer Tip: choose a clean, comfortable taxi suitable to your needs, with a presentable driver.  You needn’t be a sardine in a filthy tin can, unless you allow it.

Bienvenue Québécois

ps  We don’t want you to get the wrong idea, Burlington has many decent and professional Taxi Operators, Samaritans among them to be sure.  That said, there’s a reason this profession has the reputation it’s earned the world over, there are scoundrel shysters behind more’n a few wheels, including in little ol’ Burlington, Vermont.  Thus our efforts to arm the public against the less than honorable ones.
