Glossary
- Airport Ambassador ~ primarily Traffic Enforcement personnel charged with traffic flow through the airport. Which includes providing directions, other information and assistance(e.g., obtaining a wheel chair), among other less evident duties. A classic definition favored by the Supervising Manager of the Ambassadors: Goodwill Helper and Tactful Negotiator.
- City Taxi License ~ the Operator of any City of Burlington licensed taxi must have a City of Burlington authorized picture taxi license. Which must be on display; in case a passenger would care to make a few notes(hint hint). They are required also by any on-demand operator at Burlington Int’l Airport.
- Contract Carriers ~ include hotel courtesy shuttles and other, prearranged “for hire” transportation services such as limousine or car services; and can be met as described immediately below.
- Contract Carrier Lane ~ the parking area on the north end of the island situated between the terminal and the parking garage (aka, the contract lane): when exiting the terminal via the center doors which lead to the parking garage beneath the skywalk you can expect to locate your hotel shuttle(assuming you called), etc to the right end of the island.
- Contract Carrier Permit ~ a sticky decal containing 4 numerals identifying a City of Burlington authorized contract carrier. This decal can permissibly be displayed in a number of different ways, including not applying it to the right front quarter panel of the vehicle if it is displayed in a viewable position from the exterior of the passenger side of the vehicle, while parked on the contract lane.
- Licensed Taxi Permit ~ a sticky decal containing 4 numerals identifying a City of Burlington authorized zone taxi as such. The decal is intended to be displayed upon the rear bumper of each city taxi as a unique identifier.
- Owner/Operator (O/O) ~ the smallest of small business operators in the taxi or e.g., the trucking business: one man and his vehicle. The essence & beauty of free enterprise.
- Queue Permit ~ an other sticky decal also containing 4 numerals identifying a City of Burlington queue taxi as such. The decal is intended to be displayed upon the right front quarter panel of each queue taxi as a unique identifier. A Queue Permitted taxi will also have the Licensed Taxi Permit as mentioned above. Queue Permit holders are required to purchase both.
- Taxi Queue ~ the line up of on-demand taxi’s on the south end of the island situated between the terminal and the parking garage (aka, ready line): when exiting the terminal via the center doors which lead to the parking garage beneath the skywalk you will see taxi’s to your left.
